Headteacher’s Welcome

Our vision:
And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.’ Micah 6:8.

Through the teachings of Jesus, all can flourish spiritually, emotionally and academically throughout life, living out love and justice for all.

Welcome to Guilden Sutton Church of England Primary School. Although we are situated in the heart of Guilden Sutton village on the outskirts of Chester, many of our families travel from the surrounding areas to be part of our happy, lively school where all are treated as individuals within a Christian family atmosphere.

Having been Headteacher at Guilden Sutton for the last 14 years, I am proud to say that the school continues to go from strength to strength, constantly seeking ways to move forward through the exceptional work of the school team of staff and governors and the crucial partnership with our families. Our aim is to nurture the children so that all have the opportunity to flourish spiritually and emotionally, as well as academically, giving each individual child life skills, a rich curriculum and a sense of community based on the teachings of Jesus. Our school community thrives as a result of mutual respect; everyone’s opinion matters and is valued in a spirit of ‘Love and justice for all,’ the school’s motto. We have the highest expectations for each one of our children, therefore staff model being friendly, courteous, hardworking, resilient, creative and aspirational.  We do like to have a lot of fun along the way, creating lasting memories, so that everyone can enjoy coming to school, children and staff alike!

As a Church of England school, our Christian values of love, justice, compassion, wisdom, forgiveness and friendship underpin the life of the school community and impact on our daily lives. We have strong links with St. John the Baptist Church in Guilden Sutton and our local Christian worship group, ‘Open the Book.’ Each class visits the church to celebrate Christian festivals, although festivals of different faiths are celebrated in school and our annual collaboration with the Chester Harmony Interfaith Group during Interfaith Week has been established for many years. St. John’s Family Service or Messy Church takes place at the village hall on the first Sunday of the month, all are welcome!

We welcome families of all faiths or none. Parents do have the right to withdraw their child from collective worship or religious education, so if you should wish this to be the case please do contact me.

Our website and weekly newsletters provide a chance to keep up to date with what is going on and to see how, our children develop into young people of whom we are very proud; caring, independent, knowledgeable and committed to living life in all its fullness.

You are most welcome to visit the school should you wish to find out first-hand what an exciting place it is to be.

Best wishes,
Kathy Crowe
